6 Ocean County Towns Have Fire Elections
On Saturday February 20th, 2016 registered voters in Brick, Jackson, Lakewood, Little Egg Harbor, Plumsted, and Toms River will have the opportunity to vote in the annual fire district election. The yearly elections allow voters in taxpayer-funded fire districts to have a say on expenditures, capital projects, and the election of fire commissioners that oversee district operations.
Voting will take place at designated polling places from 2 PM – 9 PM Saturday afternoon. According to the Ocean County Clerk’s Office, Lakewood’s polls will remain open until 10 PM.
To be eligible to vote in the fire election, voters must reside within their respective fire district, and be registered to vote by February 18th, 2016.
