Robert Novy, a prominent Manchester-based Republican lawyer accused of bilking his senior citizen clients out of money has been arrested Tuesday morning, law enforcement records confirmed.
According to Ocean County Jail records, as of Tuesday, Mr. Novy is facing a litany of charges including Money Laundering, Contempt of Court and Theft By Unlawful Taking.
We previously reported that Mr. Novy was facing formal ethics charges stemming from allegations that he commingled client and personal funds.
In July, one of Novy’s associates, Douglas Hull, was also formally charged by the Office of Attorney Ethics on similar allegations.
Novy was previously associated with Toms River Mayor Tom Kelaher’s law firm before starting his own practice decades ago. Novy was also was the host of the WOBM radio show “Inside The Law.”
Jail records indicated that Novy’s bond has been set at $500,000 and as of this time remains lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
