TRENTON – Michael Gilmore, the son of Ocean County Republican Chairman George Gilmore, has been nominated by Governor Chris Christie for a judgeship on the state tax court, the governor’s office announced.

Mr. Gilmore, for his part, currently practices at his father’s law firm, which receives public contracts at municipalities around the county. Gilmore often appears at tax appeal hearings, representing the interests of the municipality.

On the topic of taxation, Gilmore’s father has continued to have tax issues, with earlier OCP  reporting exploring the federal liens on file against his Toms River properties.
The governor’s nomination is subject to the advice and consent of the New Jersey State Senate.
