TRENTON – Governor Chris Christie has nominated Christopher Leitner, a past Ocean County Democratic candidate, for a state worker’s compensation judgeship, the governor’s office announced this week.
Republican Governor Chris Christie has nominated a former Ocean County Democratic candidate to become a state worker’s compensation judge, pending confirmation by the legislature.
Christopher Leitner, Christie’s pick for the position, currently an attorney at the Edison-based workman’s comp firm Leitner, Tort, DeFazio et al. has previously served on the Point Pleasant Borough Council as a Democrat, and in 2015 he unsuccessfully ran on the Democratic ticket for county freeholder with fellow Democrat Jimmy Esposito against Republicans John Bartlett and Gerry Little.
This year, Leitner was among the organizers of the Ocean County Democratic convention this past March, which eventually led to a lawsuit that unsuccessfully sought to have the result of the convention’s endorsement vote overturned in time for the 2016 primary campaign.
