Vicari Facing Republican Primary Challenger

Longtime incumbent Ocean County Freeholder Joseph Vicari (R-Toms River) will be facing a Republican primary challenger in his 2017 reelection campaign.

On Monday, the Ocean County Clerk’s office released an unofficial list of the primary candidates for countywide offices following the filing deadline.

According to that list, Freeholder Vicari is being challenged this year by Manahawkin’s Jenny Heinz, who is running under the slogan “Ocean County Conservative Republicans.”

Democrat Helen Dela Cruz, a past Lacey Township committeewoman and perennial candidate, is running without opposition on the Democratic side and will face the Republican candidate in November.
