TOMS RIVER – The school board campaign of Teri Kubiel, Ginny Rhine and Al Schwartz received an in-kind contribution from the law firm of embattled Ocean County GOP chairman George Gilmore in the form of Lakewood BlueClaws tickets, according to copies of the tickets and documents provided by sources close to the Ocean County Republican Party.
The tickets were for an August 29th, 2017 game and were sold to attendees for $300 each, according to Republican sources familiar with the details of the fundraiser. Proceeds from the ticket sales benefitted the “Toms River First” slate of candidates running in this year’s board of education race. Toms River First consists of Teri Kubiel, who is the wife of Toms River Councilman Brian Kubiel, along with former board member Ginny Rhine and Al Schwartz.
The fundraiser was not promoted or publicly announced with other fundraisers listed on the campaign’s official Facebook page.
County GOP sources said that municipal officials from Ocean County towns that award legal services contracts to the Gilmore & Monahan law firm are frequently seen being wooed at the firm’s Champions Club seats at the Lakewood BlueClaws stadium.
