Gavin Rozzi is the editor and publisher of Ocean County Politics.
In 2017, he launched OPRAmachine, a first of its kind transparency website that serves the entire state of New Jersey. Users of the website can file public records requests and search the extensive archives of public records obtained from other users’ requests. The website has been adopted by construction and property management professionals as well as journalists, who have used its streamlined, paperless process to obtain public records.
Rozzi hosted a webinar about how journalists and business owners can put the OPRA law to work for them using the website at Montclair University’s Center for Cooperative Media in 2018.
A self-taught technology professional and web developer, Rozzi gave a presentation at the 2018 DEF CON computer security and technology conference in Las Vegas, NV regarding his work with Software Defined Radio technology in Ocean County.
The son of a federal law enforcement professional, Rozzi has had a lifelong interest in New Jersey politics and government, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stockton University. In 2018, he served as a teaching assistant for classes in Constitutional Law & Civil Liberties, working under Professor Linda J. Wharton, who was co-lead counsel in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
